Giving the garden hose a winter quarters

Winter is coming, and with it the cold. Now is the perfect time to give your wonderful Livlig garden hose a winter storage place alongside your plants. Even though a hose can be a sight to behold in winter, there are some important steps to take to enjoy it for a long time.

Step 1 I Empty the water hose

First, you should definitely empty the water hose. The first night frosts have already arrived, so quickly get the water out, or it will freeze. This must be avoided because if it freezes, the hose can burst – and not only that: the faucet attached to the hose will also be damaged. So remove the loose water hose from the connection and do the same with the connectors at the ends.

You need to be especially thorough with this task. A small amount of water left in the hose can cause it to become brittle. Unfortunately, you will only notice this next summer when small holes have developed in the hose.

A little tip from us – a tree or even a strong man can help :)

It is important that you drain the water from both ends. Given the length of the hose, this is not easy. Help can come from, for example, a tree: hang the hose over high branches and let the ends hang down, then the water will flow out by itself.

Step 2 I Pack the hose well…

Once you have freed the hose from the last remnants of water, pack it well for the winter. Loosely coil the hose – preferably in very large loops (about 1 meter). This prevents kinks and brittleness. If you have a hose pot, you can store it directly in the pot.

The final step is frost-proof storage

Be sure to store the hose winter-proof after coiling it. You should always find a place for the hose in a basement, garage, garden shed, or a shed.

Our tip! With a hook, our treasures can be wonderfully hung on any wall, and since you have made large loops, they don’t take up much space.

Even though we packed away our hoses with a bit of melancholy – spring will come again!
